Snapchat is considering a change that no one would ever have thought of, Reuters reported Tuesday.
Snap Inc is considering changes to its Snapchat app that could make users’ public posts lasts longer or even permanent.
Snapchat is a service that allows users to publish temporary photos and videos that disappear after a certain period of time. This feature has been a great success over the past years.
After offering the most prominent features since 2011, Snap Inc started a serious decline, which seems to have made the company seriously considering radical changes in its mechanism after previous attempts to change the interface design to maintain existing users as well as attract new users.
Now Snapchat is considering making publications permanent, and it is also considering an option to reveal the identities of Snap users who publish these publications , Reuters reported, quoting informed sources.
The company believes that these changes will together represent a major step in its efforts to attract and retain users by making content generally shared through "Our Story" section, which is more available outside Snapchat. The changes could also create a new source of revenue for the company, which suffered large losses, led to a shrinking of the user base. Such changes to Snapchat, are thought to provoke violent reactions from users who cherish their privacy, especially after what happened to Facebook in the last months and how Facebook handles user data privacy.
